Quilotoa Trek

3 Days

The Quilotoa Trek is a popular hiking route in Ecuador that takes you through breathtaking Andean landscapes, indigenous villages, and the stunning Quilotoa Crater Lake. The trek can be started from various points, but one of the most popular routes starts from the small town of Sigchos or Isnivili and ends with the Quilotoa Loop.

The trek starts with a steep climb through the rolling hills and valleys of the Andes, passing through indigenous communities and farmlands. You will be surrounded by stunning mountain views, with the snow-capped peaks of the Andes visible in the distance. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to learn about the local culture and traditions, such as weaving and agriculture.

As you continue on the trek, you will reach the Quilotoa Crater Lake, which is one of the most stunning natural wonders of Ecuador. The lake’s turquoise waters contrast with the surrounding volcanic rock and the deep green of the Andean vegetation. You will have the opportunity to hike around the rim of the crater, taking in the breathtaking views and stopping at small villages along the way.

The Quilotoa Loop is a circular route that takes you through more remote Andean villages and landscapes, offering stunning views of the mountains and valleys. Along the way, you can visit local markets, taste traditional cuisine, and interact with the friendly indigenous communities.
